Francesco Nonino combined a scientific education (degree in medicine, specialist in neurology) with a strong interest in photography pursued by practice and by attending courses at the University and at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna. He worked as an assistant for Annie Leibovitz in New York City.
His work is included in the following collections: Phillips Collection (Washington, DC), Library of the Congress (Washington, DC), Archive and Study Centre of Communication (CSAC, University of Parma), National Institute of Graphics (Ministry of Culture, Rome), Bibliothéque Nationale de France (Paris), Musée de l’Elysée (Lausanne), Fondazione di Venezia (Venice), Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea (Cinisello Balsamo, Milan).
He lives and works in Bologna, Italy.
